Recognise and respond to a first aid emergency on site, including managing an unconscious or bleeding casualty until help arrives.
Before you touch a casualty, check for danger to yourself, bystanders and the patient. Work through Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation in that order. Never become the second casualty.
Apply firm direct pressure to a bleeding wound and elevate where possible. Lay the casualty down, keep them warm, and monitor for the signs of shock: pale, cool, clammy skin and a rapid weak pulse.
If unresponsive and breathing normally, place in the recovery position and monitor the airway. If not breathing normally, start CPR immediately at 30 compressions to 2 breaths.
When emergency services arrive, give a clear handover: what happened, what you found, what you did, and any changes. Stay until you are released.
